- (continued from previous page)which was the first Presbyterian Meeting House within a radius of almost 20 miles. LetterKenny 16 miles to the south was the nearest. There was none to the north nor is there any yet to the north of Kerrykeel and there is a Protestant church about 4 miles to the north of Kerrykeel and later on I hope to be able to record a story concerned with one of the first Rectors of this Protestant Church.
The first minister in charge of the local Presbyterian Church was the Rev. Adam White. The second whose name I have not yet succeeded in finding, was according to the old people murdered. By whom or for what reason I have not been able to find out.
Lately I have been told of a likely place to obtain further information on the above subject and I intend to pursue inquiries in this direction at the earliest opportunity. If I receive any further information I will include it further on in the book.About a mile from the village there are two forts - about which I have been able to obtain very little information although I feel sure that there must be some record in some of the old histories. They are built in the townland of Gortnatrow(continues on next page)
