in the "High Cairn" is called the Dam's Field, because there are dam's in it when flax was steeped. At the foot of the cairn brae there is a field called the "Mount". In this field there is a large mound, and in early days there used to be a wind-mill on top of this mound to serve the people of the district as a weather guide.
The town-land adjoining the "High Cairn" is called Ardnaree. Long ago, it is believed, this place was the burial place of an Ard-Rí. In one of the fields there is a large height composed of red clay, and stones, and there, it is said, the Ard-Rí was buried. Growing on this height there are trees, and around it, there is a path. The field slopes gradually from this height to the road, and is called, "The Gentle Brae's." It is said that the fairies used to dwell there in olden times.
There is a hill at the shore in "Tyroddy" called the "Goat Hill". It got this name because a crowd of wild goats used to come to the hill in the winter time. There is a goat-house beside this hill, and the goats lived in this house. The remains of the house are still there.
