- About fifty years ago or even less schools were not as plentiful as nowadays. There was an old school in Rossnakill somewhere about were Pat Friels barn is built now. At that time there was only one school in Fanad. All the pupils came there to be taught. The master was a man called Professor Dalton who had to flee from Dublin to save his life during the time of Wolfe Tone. He got his lodgings by going to every house in the district a staying there for a night. The was another school in Ballydeskin. It was build in 1866
