- No. 1—There was a man in Aughavoy, and he was a hundred and five years old when he died. When he was young he carried a two hundred-weight sack of oats from his own house to a mill two miles away. There were very few carts at this time so the people had to carry their food-stuffs from the town, and of course Neal Boyce who I am speaking of had to do the same, and many a heavy burden he carried to Aughavoy. He saw the foundation-satone of the old Church in Glennfinn being laid, and he also saw the foundation-stone of the present Church being laid.No. 2—Charley Magee was another very strong man, and he lived in the townland of Cappry about a mile from Ballybofey. He died two years ago at the age of seventy-three. He lifted an iron rail weighing five hundred-weight when he was nineteen years of age. He could carry the wheel of a cart on his chin.
