    My heart did ache I thought would break when leaving Donegal.

    Round Tory Isle we steamed in style
    the mainland we could see.
    Tall Muckish grand with glistening
    sand smiled over Crocatee.
    While Errigal much higher still hangs proudly over all.
    I heaved a sigh an I waved good-bye
    to the hills of Donegal.
    5. Oh Donegal, I long to see thy native hill's once more.
    As I am now an exile still upon a foreign shore.
    But if ever I return again I will build a castle tall.
    And live where my forefathers lived and die in Donegal.
