  1. (continued from previous page)
    In my grandfather's garden,
    There grows a pretty knot,
Four and twenty wee things all in a trot,
Buckles in their belts and long casty hats,
If you would guess to doom's-day, You could not guess that.
    A Sheaf of corn.
Why does a donkey eat thistles?
    Because he is an ass.
Why does a hen pick a pot?
    Because she cannot lick it
Kitty in her white petticoat, the longer she sits the shorter she grows.
    A lighted candle.
As I went up the narrow lane
    I met my sister Jane
With her long nose and copper toes,
Upon my word she would scare the crows.
    A Gun
What side is the handle of a jug on?
    On the outside.
Why does a hen cross the road?
To get to the other side.
