    and left them past for the next expected big event. An old uncle was paying an odd visit to a neighour girl - who was the only child and would have been getting the bit of land with her as her wedding dowry. Gossipers said they might be married any time, and so my shoes had to be saved, as I would have been expecting an invitation. This wedding never came off and my shoes still remained safe and sound in a box. Anyhow between watching and saving my shoes they grew too small for me, and "my high cows" - as they were then called - were borrowed by a first cousin to carry her to Church on the day of her wedding; and her outgoing Sunday. They were borrowed and never returned.
