In eighteen and forty seven there rose a great famine in Ireland.
Many people were dying along the road of hunger and every body was very weak because the potatoes had failed and in fact every crop had failed except the turnip crop. The cause of this failure was a blight that came over the potatoes when they were ready for moulding.
