- When we hear the crickets singing very loudly we may be expecting rain. If the soot comes rolling down the chimney a rain is not far away. It is a sign of rain when old women and old men take pains. When the cat sits with her back to the fire it is also a sign of rain.
When the walls of our houses get damp the rain is near at hand. The frog changes his colour when it is going to rain. At night if we see the aurora borialis or the northern lights in the sky it is a sure sign of rain.
The swallows fly very low when it is going to rain. If we see the fishes swimming on the top of the water it is a sign of rain. When we see a ring around the moon at night it is another sign of rain.- Collector
