In olden times the people were afraid of many things which they are not afraid of now. This was one of the fears of the people of Moville long ago.
On Christmas Eve the men all got off from work one or two hours before they got off any other night. The reason was because it was believed by the people that the dead wandered about on Christmas Eve night and if they caught anybody they would carry them away.- Collector
