    Why the robin has the red-breast is When Our Lord was bleeding on the Cross the little robin began to carry leaves and cover Our Lord head. The blood was dropping from our Lords head and a drop came on the robins breast and stained it and gave the robin the red breast.
    The reason the swallow has a forked tail. When the swallow and the serpent were fighting The serpant took a bite out of the swallow's tail, and left it like a fork. The old people say that the magpie is a cousin of the crow. The magpie is of a white and black colour.
