- Long ago the old people could foretell when a storm was at hand. They observed many signs in the sun, moon, stars, rainbow and birds with regard to the weather.
If the sun sets red this indicates that there is going to be good weather but if she sets in the midst of pale clouds it is going to be bad.
When there is far-off ring around the moon it foretells that there is a storm near at hand but if the ring is near-hand this tells us the there is a storm far off.
If the stars are shining brightly in the heavens on a dark winter's night you may be sure we will have frost following.
When the coot falls or if the cricket sings sharply you may expect a rainstorm. If there are cobwebs strewn on the ground and bushes you may expect the same. If we see clouds(continues on next page)- Collector
