is a large wood. Part of it is called "The Middle Planting" about which a story concerning a Spaniard is told.
We go to school by way of the avenue instead of the public road.
We love to go this way in spring to see the first wild flowers growing in the sheltered nooks and listen to the birds singing in the hedgerows.
It is also delightful in autumn when the trees are like Indian princes.
In winter it is not so pleasant nor safe because large branches hang over the road and very often these come down if there is a gale.
This demesne is the home of the pheasant, the badger and the fox.
The land is very good and yields rich crops every year.
Wheat is not grown in the district.
