It was then used by the people for their accommodation that lived in the villages of Druimgoony and Thuargarbh for drawing turf a with donkeys to the old flax - mill at Brochagh as a great bog then stretched along the southern end of these villages. After the clearance in eighteen hundred and fifty two, Lord Lucan put this road in repair for his own accommodation for carrying corn to Castlebar from his threshing Mill which he erected in his farm-yard at Brockagh where Mr. Kennedy's house now stands.
