    Before he gave him the measure he melted tar on the bottom of it so as to know what he wanted it for. When he came home with the measure he found a gold soverign stuck to the tar on the bottom. He said to his wife upon my word he was measuring gold in it, and I will ask him where he got. He asked his brother the following day where he got all the gold, and he told him it was for the hide of my horse which you killed. Maye said the other man if I killed my horse, I would get that much for him. Well you will and twice as much, because I did not ask half-enough. He killed his horse the next day and went into town with it, and all he could get for it was a few shillings. He came home very vexed,
