- Oliver Cromwell is said to have passed through Rush and to have gone to Baldungan. He there blew the steeple of the Castle. The left arm of the steeple still remains. He did not do any damage in Rush.The old people tell us how Kilbush got its name. It is said that when the Danes were in Ireland the second place they visited. They landed on Lambay Island first and burned the Curch there. Some of them went to Dublin while others came accross to Rush which is but two and a half miles from Lambay. They fought against the people at Kilbush. there was an old church there and the people walked round this church when they defeated(continues on next page)
