  1. Cromwell landed at Ringsend in Dublin and marched from there to Drogheda. On his way he passed Rush and captured Baldungan Castle. He left a trail of blood after him.
    At Dremona there was a battle fought with the Danes, and in later years bodies of soldiers were discovered in the same place where the Battle was fought.
    Near Loughshinney there is a cave called the Danes' Cave. A number of priests took refuge in the cave at the time of Cromwell. They were found and beheaded by Cromwells army. Blood stains have been seen by people on the stone on which they were beheaded.
