During the war in 1916 a man named Thomas Leonard was returning from Dublin at 11 o'clock at night found that he could not get a bus from the Rush station into the town. He decided to walk in the dark, leaving the station at ten past eleven he walked 2 miles to his home. He reached his home at half past eleven doing the journey in 20 minutes.
A man named John Ryan walked to Dublin 16 miles in an hour and a quarter. He left his house at 8 o'clock and arrived in Dublin at a quarter past nine.
James Kelly used to walk to Dublin with cattle.
