- In olden times there lived three brothers named Jim, Pat and Blackbrutches. They set out one day to look for work. They soon came to a sandpit where Jim and Pat thought to do away with Blackbrutches.They put Blackbrutches in a hole and threw stones and sand on him, but there was a hole along the side of the big hold where Blackbrutches crept into and was not hurt.When it came near dark, Pat and Jim saw a light in a wood and went to see what it was. They saw an old house where lived an old witch. Jim and Pat got lodging and then came Blackbrutches who also got lodging.Next morning Blackbrutches told the witch his story.
