- In the years 1846 and 1847 a famine came and caused many deaths.
People and animals died of hunger.
In 1846 the potatoes were very small and were unfit for eating.
The following year 1847 the famine came and destroyed all the crops.
There dwelled in Innishowen a certain landlord who did his best to change the religion of the Irish. He was unable to do it in any of the other years. The people still held fast to their true religion. Most of the people left Ireland and crossed the seas to America.
There dwelled in the town of Leiter three families, who decided to go to America and make their fortunes there.
Before they would leave it was agreed that they would have to covert one family at least or do something on the landlord that would displease him.
