    Sometimes money is found, between the stones of an old house perhaps a penny - put there for luck. They used to put money in a little bowl put away in a room. "Go back to the bowleen" was a common phrase when one was sent back for money
    Money was scarce but bigger quantities of things could be then purchased for the same amount of money now. The women used carry money in a little cloth bag closed by a running string, securely tied and carried inside their blouses or whatever they wore.
