    with a mark on the lid. We churn twice a week in Summer and once a week in Winter. When a stranger comes in they help to churn. The churn dash is worked up and down. When the buttermilk is clear on the dash we know the butter is made. Cold water is put in the churn in Summer and hot in Winter to help to churn. When the milk is churned the butter is put into the butter dish and salted and made into rolls. It takes about half an hour to churn. It is churned with the hand. Butter milk is used for making bread.
