    he observed that the horse had only three legs and at once remarked that it would be impossible to shoe the horse.
    The Stranger remarked that when the foremost shoes were on, he would hold up the animal for the smith, and that in this way, the work could be performed.
    So the smith, carried on with the work and succeeded aright in getting all three shoes on.
    The Stranger then asked what was the charge and the smith being very nervous about the whole affair, said he would charge nothing.
    "Oh, said the stranger you must take a pound No replied the smith. Well then said the stranger - you will take the price of a drink. Very well said the smith "Ill take a shilling for a drink" and he was given the shilling
