When Our Lord was nailed on the cross a robin came to him and tried to pull the nails out of his hands and feet.
It is said that some of his blood fell on the robin's breast and that is the reason he is called robin redbreast.
When the Holy Family were flying from the soldiers, the Blessed Virgin lost the brooch of her cloak. Saint Joseph asked a cowherd to give him a thorn to fasten the cloak, but he said that he was too busy,
He asked another cowherd, and he gave him the same excuse. When they were passing by a forge, the blacksmith came out, and he said that he would make a brooch.
He took a piece of money out of his pocket and he made a brooch of gold. It is said that since that time, a blacksmith who washes himself in the water in which he has cooled his irons is made stronger.- Collector
