- In olden times there was an iron foundry in a village called Creggs, about 8 miles distant from the village of Cappagh. The iron ore from which was manufactured in this foundry was obtained from mines on top of Mount Mary near the present spa well. The coal used in the smelting of the iron was also got in a mine on the slope of Sliabh Mhuire.
There was a distillary at some distance from the foundry.
Several weavers lived in this locality. One lived in Mary Mary. There is one still living in Cloonkeen. His name is Mat Lohan- Collector
