- (continued from previous page)them.Next night the giant came by himself and Jack was above on the tree as before. He let down a stone and hit him and the giant looking up saw Jack above on the tree. He took him down off the tree and he said “you’re too small for two bites and you’re too big for one but I will bring you home with me.”Next day the giant and Jack went for a barrel of water. When they had it full the giant asked him to carry one side of the barrel with him but Jack told the giant to keep back that he would bring the well and the barrel home with him, but the giant said that it was his brother sunk that well and he would let no one stir it. That evening the giant cooked a pot of porridge and he asked Jack would he be able to eat as much as himself and Jack said he would. Jack made a little bag and put it inside his vest and every bit he did eat he but as much more in the bag. When they were finished Jack asked the giant if he would be able to let it all out again and the giant told him to do it himself first. Jack caught the knife and he stabbed the little back and out came all the porridge. The giant went to do it then but he was hurting himself and he asked Jack to do it for him. Jack got the knife and he ripped the giant up the throat and killed him.
