- There are not many heroes in this locality at present. Most of the heroes are old and weak and some more of them are dead.They were strong and they used to go seven or eight miles every Sunday playing games.There were great runners, jumpers, weight throwers and mowers around here some years ago. There was a man great for a game called a long jump and he lived in a village called Cuitane. He was the best in Irelan, and his name was Matt Roseingrave. He is living still in New Zealand. He also was good at the high jump.The best weight thrower was a man named Micko Forde. At one time he was the best in Ireland. He is still living in Tubber. The de Blaquires who are living in the same village were also great athletes.The Rocks of Tarmon were great bowlers and they used travell long journeys bowling. I heard they(continues on next page)
