    with his buyer or by slaping him on the back. When horses or sheep or cattle are sold there is usually a make put on them. Some-times they are marked with mud or their hair is clipped. The sheep are usually marked with a red mark or a blue one. It is the custom at fairs to give the halt or rope with the animal that is sold. Special fairs are held for the sale of horses, cattle, sheep and bonhams. The chief fairs of the year in Kinvara are 18th May and the 17th October.
