For recreation I went out to walk.
As I had got some leisure
I thought it a pleasure.
With some neighbouring lassie to talk

I buttoned my coat tight up to my throat.
I put on my stockings and shoes.
I brushed my old hat oh how smart i did that.
If you saw me you'd say I was loose.

Away then I skipped on the rampart I tripped.
As light as I could on my toes.
my shirt it was wet with all the cold sweat.
That fell from my forehead and nose.

The sandy Hotel the place ye know well
The sofa was placed in the corner.
