  1. Marriages generally take place in this locality duriring Shrove but a great many get married on Shrove Tuesday which is the days before Ash Wednesday. There are some days of the week on which people do not like to marry namely Thursday Friday and Saturday they believe in the old saying
    Monday for wealth
    Tuesday for health
    Wednesday the best day of all
    Thursday for losses
    Friday for crosses
    Saturday no day at all.
    It is very seldom people get married in the months of Mary and August as those are called the Blessed Virgin's months: Matches are still made in our district and if a man has some money to spare he gives it to his daughter as a fortune. Sometimes cattle and
