- 1. There is a village named Barnaboy which means the gap of the yellow ford. There is a hill a little bit beyond Abbey which is called the Barrack hill. Long ago there was a barrack near that hill that is how it got it's name.
2. There is also another hill as you go over to Kylemore which is called Mart Joynt's hill. This got it's name because there was a man living there by the name of Mart Joynt.
3. There is a field in Abbey which is called Locha Riach. There is a field which is called Chnoc abhainne.
