   disease would go. When people are going to plough or bring home turf they like to begin on Friday. When people are going to get married, there is an old shoe thrown after them for luck and it is said they should wear something new, something borrowed, and something blue. There is another superstition about death, happy is the bride the sun shines on. Happy is the corpse the rains on. If two persons washed in the same water they would have a row. If a person got married in red the marriage would be unlucky.

   Signs of the Weather

   There are many signs to be seen when we are going to have bad weather.

   The soot falls down the chimney.
   The dogs are to be seen sleeping.
   The spiders creep from their cob-webs.
   The sun goes pale to bed.
   The walls are damp.
   The chairs and tables are creaking.
   The ducks quack loudly.
   The sea fowl go roaring through the sky.
   The pigs are restless and are snorting.
   The swallows fly on the grass lowly.
   The crickets sings loud and sharp.
