    The ciaróg is not a favourite and it is the general custom to kill every one of them that is seen.
    The priompallán is reckoned to be holy, and it is right to help them out of any difficulty. The old people delight to hear them buzzing around on fine evenings, and say that it is a sign of fine weather and good crops.
    Every 'spidneanta' i.e. a long hairy worm should be killed. He should be spat upon three times and then crushed while the executioner says "Spidneanta spidneanta you are the devil and I am Jack."
