    7. Direction and line of ascent of smoke from chimney.
    (a) If the smoke goes up straight from the chimney it indicates fine weather.
    (b) If soot falls from the chimney rain is sure to come.
    (c) If a blue flame is seen in the fire rain is expected.
    (d) If when you stir the ashes it appears to be blue it indicates rain.
    (e) If there is a very bright flame in the fire it indicates fine weather.
