- The houses were thatched long ago. some were thatched with rushes and others with straw. Some people kept a bed in the kitchen and the young people slept in it. They usually kept the ducks under the dresser. The hens layed in a hole in the wall and they tied the cattle at the end of the house. The fire was in the wall between the kitchen and bedroom.
