- 1. Those are the names of the fields in my village.
1. 'Sean Valley' This field is so called because there it is an old valley with hills on either side of it. 2. "The old wood". this was an old wood with walls built round it so nobody could get into it. The trees are cut down now but the remains of the walls are seen yet. 3. "Cnocán bán" This a hill on which white grass grows. 4 "Cnoc na gcuirp" so called because there were two men fighting for a piece of land and they got killed and were buried at the back of this hill.5 "The Lisheen" this is a place where many people are buried. Mr. Michael O'Kelly the landlord's son is buried here also. 6 "The Lawn" this is a lawn belonging to big house where the landlord lived long ago. 7 "George's garden" so called because a man named George Dod lived there long ago.(continues on next page)- Collector
