    Aughavohill was the first man to drive an ass and cart on this road and when he came to the hollow (Alt) near his own house he and three or four other men had to pull the cart of turf across the river and up out of the Alt, as there was no bridge at this place at that time.
    Later on the bridge was built by a man called Dan McGowan locally known as Dan Tirence who lived in Aughaderrand, Kinlough, Co. Leitrim.
    About two miles from Kinlough on the Rossinver side there is a crossroads called Lios na gcat (the fort of the cats) there is another road leading from the cross called the High Road
