  1. Long ago the people bought no bread or flour to make bread. They sewed plenty of corn and potatoes.
    From corn they made oaten meal and from it they made bread. This is how they made it. they pored boiling water on oatmeal and flatened it out and got a gridle and baked it before the fire. They grated raw potatoes and made a sort of cake Boxty.
