    The "Rose" (Erysipelas)
    Only certain people have the cure for the "rose". It is made up of fresh butter and "fourban" (fear ban) mixed while a charm is recited. The people never reveal the words of this charm
    A Cold
    There are several cures for a cold. One is to eat raw onions and sugar when going to bed especially if suffering from a sore throat. Another is hot buttermilk and sugar also taken at bedtime. Raw turnips are also good
    A "Beeling" or Festering
    Poultices are the chief remedy for a festering. These can be made of oatmeal and buttermilk, soap and sugar, or loafbread and hot water. One of these applied to the festering and kept on till it is better.
    Jaundice
    The cure for jaundice is got by boiling woodbine leaves in water for a half an hour. Then the leaves are strained off and the water drained by the person who is suffering from the disease
    Toothache
    A frog met with by accident is licked three times by the person who wishes to get the cure saying after each lick. In the name of
