- There is a holy well at Killargue. It is about a quarter of a mile from Killargue chapel. This well is called the well of Saint Fearga. On the 16th of August people go to Killargue holy well and make rounds there. When they are making rounds they leave relics near the well.Cures are made at Killargue holy well by washing the part that is ill in a stream that is flowing from the well. There is also a well at Tubbernalta near the lovely shore of Lough Gill. It is said that Saint Patrick blessed this well; while in more recent centuries in this lonely spot the haunted priest of the penal days celebrated mass. Nearby is a rock which is locally called the altar. This well springs up in a glen about then miles from Sligo(continues on next page)
