    went to the forest and started to work. When he got hungry he sat down to eat. The little red-man stepped out and asked Redcap for some of his lunch.
    "Certainly", he said "you will have as much of it as my self". Redcap the ashey pet told him what he was trying to do so the little red man said "do not fear, I will help you".
    Here is a hatchet and go out to that tree there. Redcap did as the little redman told him. But he told Red-cap not to let on at home how he was getting on until he would land home with his ship. Red-cap took the hatchet and started to cut the tree. He only hit it two strokes when it was cut.
    So the little red man helped Red-cap to make the ship and complete it. Then the little red man told Red-cap when he would be going to the cashel to bring all the men he would meet with him, "because you are an ashey pet", "and when the princess sees you she will try to have you done away with...
