- (continued from previous page)The dash was attached to this by a screw and bolt. This means one person could churn a large churn and not feel tired. Other people had an arrangements made and could churn by using a horse. In the middle of the last century people would rise early and have the churning done before the sun would rise up high in the sky. They always said the heat of the sun spoiled the butter. The home made machine was made thus:-
