- I. The woodcock comes here from foreign countries in Summer. She does not build any nest in our country. She brings her young birds with her and when she is crossing the Atlantic she carries a rod with her. When she gets tired she stands on the rod and floats on the water.
II. The black bird does not migrate, there is a difference between the male and the female, the male has a red bill, that is to distinguish him from the female.
III. A funny story is told about the thrush. One day as Thomas Aherne R. I. P. was going from Knockanure to Listowel he saw a thrush on the roadside. He heard the thrush singing, and he(continues on next page)- Collector
