About fifty years six years ago a man lived in the townland of Coolanelig by the name of Shoan Byrnes. He was a very strong man. One day he and his comrades came to the Knockmaol bog for turf with horses and rails. It was a very wet place and when they were coming home one of the horses went bogging. Shoan took the horse from under the car. He then put the back-band across his shoulders and two others went behind pulling it back. However Shoan pulled out the car in spite of them.
