  1. Once upon a time a young man set out from home to seek his fortune. His mother gave him a gold coin to keep him in provisions until he secured work.
    He set off early and was travelling until nightfall. Just as it was getting dark he sighted a house in the distance. Making the house his mark, he travelled quickly in its direction. On coming near he saw it to be a lordly mansion. He knocked at the door and was admitted, given his supper and his bed pointed out to him.
    Now it chanced that the mansion was that of the chief of the place who was at war with another chief. On arising
