    To hear a dead bell or a "glaob cluaise" is a sign of a death.
    If you break a mirror you are said to have seven years of bad luck.
    If a coal falls on the hearthstone it is the sign of a visitor.
    If sparks jump at you out of the fire you are supposed to get money.
    If you strike a person with a rush, that person will not grow anymore.
    Whatever day "la na leanbh" falls on is the "odd day" for the following year and no new work is begun on that day.
