morning in a lodging house in Boyle and was supposed to be choked.
Jack Burchell was sentenced to be hanged and every (time they made an) attempt to hang him failed. Ropes were bought three times the same day and they broke each time. Finally most of the shopkeepers refused to sell any rope. There was one shopkeeper however who volunteered to sell rope and it succeeded in hanging him. This man did not reign long in Carrick after this.
The man who shot Mr. Cox admitted his crime after a number of years. It was well known after that Jack Burchell was hanged in the wrong.
