- A cure for drawing out thorns is to chew, or hammer ivy in a cloth, and put it over the place where the thorn is and it will draw it out.
In the fields there grows a long green leaf with a small yellow flower, and it is a good cure if a person has a pain in his back. Pick it, squeeze it and put it in a cloth and tie it on, and it will blister and soften the skin.
A cure for a person with kidney trouble, is to boil broom and drink a little drop of it. "Ferrits leavings" was a good cure for whooping cough. The people used to give the ferrit some milk to drink and whatever was left was put in a bottle and given to the child to drink.
Comfrey is a cure for a cut.
"Marshmallow is a cure for taking down swelling.
Butter and leeks fried on the pan and the ointment of them is a cure for a burn, and another cure for a burn is grated potatoes."- Collector
