   Once upon a time my great grandfather Robert Notley was critting turf in Cloonboney bog where my father is cutting now. He found a cool of butter which weighed 2 stones. It was buried about 12 feet down in the ground. The butter was unfit for family use and he used it as cart grease.

   In Clooncolry there was a man named Daly. One day he went out to plough some bog. He turned out with the plough seven pewtar dishes.

   Another day he was raising sand at the brink of the river and he dug out the skeleton of some terrible big animal.
