- The most common wild birds found in this district are, the Blackbird, Thrush, Sparrow, Robin, Wagtail, Wren, Yellow Hammer, Gold Finch, Mule, Snipe, Lapwing, Rook, Jackdaw, Lark, Hawk, Starling and Pheasant. The migratory birds are the Cuckoo, Corncrake, Swallow, White Throat, Wild Duck, Wild Goose, Swan, Seagull and Stork.When swallows come to this country or when they are about to migrate they gather in rows on wires or on the tops of houses. The birds build their nests out of sight and out of reach.The cuckoo is a peculiar bird. She does not built a nest atal. She is a very lazy bird. She lays about twelve eggs. She lays one egg in the nest of each bird. She does not hatch them either. In the beginning of Spring the birds begin to mate. They build their nests with dirt and twigs. They line their nests with feathers and hair. The only way she has to make the nest is with her beak and feet. When the nest is built the hen bird lays six or seven(continues on next page)
